Black and white petals - ink on paper - are sensitive and smudge when handled by rough hands. In greeting cards, no wind blows the pollen onto flower pistils, no bees pass by. The plants in the cards are just old paint that makes a few nice words look prettier — nicely decorated sentences with kitschy pictures gather dust in drawers that are never opened.
